Freight Elevators

The elevator with the high ceiling (on left, facing elevator) in each building is the freight elevator. The dimensions are:

Freight car: 9'6"high, 5'6" wide, 3'6" deep
Doorway: 7'x 35"
Hallway: 7'6" high, 4'2" wide

1. Movement of the following materials is restricted to the freight elevators:

  • Household goods
  • Construction materials
  • Removal/delivery of large items
  • Trash
The other two passenger elevators in each building are never to be used for these materials.

    2. All goods which require use of the freight elevator, as set forth above, will enter the building via the underground garage located on Spruce Street, just west of Second Street.

    3. Use of the freight elevators is limited to weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No weekend, holiday or evening movement of goods requiring the use of the freight elevators is permitted.

    4. Daily control of goods moving into or out of the buildings is monitored by Resident Services. Residents planning to utilize the freight elevator should coordinate its use with the Management Office. The number of uses that can be accommodated each day are limited and, therefore, elevator services may not be available on the date requested. Residents should also be aware that the Housekeeping Department uses the freight elevator each morning for 30 to 45 minutes.

    5. All contractors engaged to perform work within the buildings for owners or the Association are to contact Residential Services if they will require use of the freight elevator. A freight elevator permit slip will be issued from the garage office to authorize the use of the elevator for the delivery or removal of construction materials or debris.

    6. Residents anticipating delivery of oversized goods which will not fit into a freight elevator should call Resident Services. The resident will be directed to make arrangements with the elevator contractor for the movement of these goods.
