Educational, Civic, and Public Affairs

Management and many residents are actively involved with the work of the Society Hill Civic Association. We exchange newsletters, carry news about Civic Association activities, urge our residents to become members, serve on their board, and promote their activities and their services.

Political involvement is encouraged at Society Hill Towers. At election times, our Community Room is the site for voting and registration for the entire neighborhood. Each year, Management invites local political leaders who are running for office to conduct question and answer sessions with our residents. Included in the new owners welcome packet described above are voter registration forms for residents moving from a different voting district. Through our newsletter, bulletin boards and door-to-door bulletins, we encourage citizens to exercise their voting right. After each election, we report the local results in our newsletter.

Society Hill Towers is adjacent to an area with several public monuments and commemorative structures, including tablets celebrating the contributions of war veterans. The Towers is currently involved in conversations with veterans groups about ways we can assist with cleaning and maintaining monuments near our property.

Waterfront development is always an important issue in an area like ours, on the bank of a major river. The Manager and a representative of Council serve on committees formed by our City government to explore matters related to the development and preservation of this region.
